Further information

Programme Objectives:

Early detection

The screening process consists of 11 sessions, during each of which we will measure visual fixation and tracking (using an eye tracker), alongside an interview with the parents and various questionnaires that help us assess different areas of the babies’ neurodevelopment. We also pay particular attention to behaviour, feeding, sleep and various specific indicators of social and communicative development.

Specialist intervention

The aim of the programme is to equip families with the specific skills needed to support their babies’ social and communicative development. The family is regarded as the primary source of stimulation within the natural environments in which the baby develops; therefore, the programme focuses on both the baby and the family itself.

Nationwide Roll-out

The ‘BBMiradas’ programme was launched in 2017 thanks to a grant applied for by Autismo España under the 2016 Call for Grants funded by 0.7% of national income tax. Since then, the Autismo Burgos Association and the Miradas Foundation have developed a body of knowledge and a robust methodology, which has enabled progress to be made in the early detection of autism.

Following a review of the results from the pilot phase, and with the aim of sharing this knowledge and rolling out the programme nationwide, a partnership agreement has been signed under which Autismo España will lead and coordinate the roll-out process, whilst Autismo Burgos and Fundación Miradas will be responsible for transferring the knowledge gained.

Accreditations

The team behind the ‘BBMiradas’ project has extensive professional experience and holds a range of accreditations, including those recently obtained for the IMPACT and PACT intervention models.
