The Miradas Foundation has received the Caser Foundation’s 2026 Dependency and Society Award in the Entrepreneurship category for the bbMiradas programme, an applied research initiative aimed at advancing the early detection of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The award was presented on 29 September during the closing ceremony of the 17th edition of these awards, held at Caser’s headquarters in Madrid.

On behalf of the Miradas Foundation, the award was accepted by its chair, Simona Palacios, and its director, Miguel Gómez. This recognition serves as an endorsement of the work carried out through bbMiradas, a programme that seeks to address the delays that still exist in the diagnosis of autism and to ensure that children can access the support they need as soon as possible.

A commitment to early detection

bbMiradas proposes an innovative early detection model aimed at babies aged between 6 and 36 months. The programme combines screening tools, specialist clinical observation and eye-tracking technology. The information obtained is analysed using BebeLearning, an artificial intelligence neural network developed specifically to identify patterns of visual attention associated with autism. According to information published by the Caser Foundation, the system achieves a predictive accuracy of around 91 per cent.

The aim is to enable the identification of possible signs of autism at an earlier age and to facilitate the provision of specialised support. Since its launch, the programme has involved more than 1,200 babies and has enabled earlier diagnoses and the initiation of early interventions, according to the Caser Foundation.

The Caser Foundation’s recognition is also particularly significant due to the innovative and applied nature of bbMiradas, as well as its ability to connect research, technology and professional practice in the service of early intervention.

17th edition of the Dependency and Society Awards

The Caser Foundation’s Dependency and Society Awards are now in their 17th year and aim to recognise initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life of people with dependency needs and/or disabilities and their families. For the 2026 edition, 300 nominations were received, of which 290 were assessed by the judging panel.

bbMiradas was recognised in the Entrepreneurship category, alongside Valladolid City Council, which won the R&D&I award for the Pérgola Project, and Asaenes Mental Health Seville, which won the Social Transformation award.

We at the Miradas Foundation would like to thank the Caser Foundation for this recognition and to pay tribute to all the individuals, professionals and organisations that have made the development of bbMiradas possible and who continue to work towards ever-earlier detection and a better response to the needs of children with autism and their families.
